You will join the Healthcare Private Equity and PrincipalInvestors (PEPI) practice. You will be assigned to one of our Germany offices (Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin,Stuttgart, Vienna) to work in teams and directly with our clients.

Our practice is the world’s leading advisor to the PEPIindustry and a high growth area for the Firm, working with many of the mostsignificant global and local private investors and their portfolio companies.In this role, you will help our PE Healthcare clients and their portfoliocompanies, across the deal lifecycle – working on transactions, and valuecreation topics (including strategy, digital business building, commercialexcellence, and many more).

You will also work with the wider McKinsey network, including arange of experts in the firm, from industry and functional experts to datascientists to researchers to software and app designers.

You will focus on serving healthcare investor clients and their portfolio companies.

In this role, you will work in teams of typically 3 - 5 consultants with diverse backgrounds in finance, medical education and sciences to support investor clients and their portfolio companies throughout the deal lifecycle, including on diligence, value creation topics and exit support. The healthcare investor work is rapidly growing and advancing, an integral part of your role will be enhancing this energizing growth venture.

You will have the opportunity to assess and identify market attractiveness and support on market shaping transformational acquisitions. Besides transaction related work you will have the opportunity to work directly with portfolio companies on their value creation agenda, help shaping the future shapers in European healthcare. For that, you will work hand in hand with our specialists including business builder, designer and advanced analytics experts. You will be recognized as a valuable resource of experience, information and expertise both inside the firm and by our clients.

As an associate, you will be part of a fast-growing group attending regular trainings and receiving ongoing development. You will be aligned to a European team which operates with a close relation to our US, Middle Eastern and Asian entities. You will receive training on how to better: structure ambiguous problems and take action to solve them, synthesize complex information into clear takeaways and recommendations using both qualitative and quantitative method. You will work effectively with diverse teams to come up with the best solutions and move people and organizations to act, establish trust-based relationships with clients to better-serve their organizations.

You will also communicate effectively with all audiences, including senior leaders, in a structured manner, develop your leadership style, leveraging your own passions, strengths, and personal values. McKinsey believes in strengths-based development and coaching, and you’ll receive frequent mentoring from colleagues. This will include a senior colleague from your office or practice who will help you grow and achieve your career goals.

Additionally, you will have a professional development manager who manages staffing to help you choose projects based on your priorities as well as the needs of client service teams. When you join McKinsey, you are joining a firm that will invest in your professional development.

During your first few years with the firm, you will serve as an associate on client engagements and work with a number of colleagues and clients in a range of private investor and healthcare settings. You will work across different healthcare industries and functional areas to develop significant business experience. As well as an investor mindset, you will likely intersect with many elements of our firm’s work including digital, implementation, and analytics capabilities.

Private Equity Healthcare consultants will be staffed full time to client engagements.

  • Undergraduate degree with + 4 years work experience or master’s degree and + 2 years of work experience after completing your degree
  • Investor mindset and experience or strong interest in private equity, venture capital, strategy consulting, life sciences, and/or healthcare services
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization coming from a diverse range of backgrounds
  • Capability to drive an independent workstream in the context of a broader team project
  • Comfort with ambiguous, ever-changing situations
  • Ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysis
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English
  • Previous experience in IB/VC/PE/M&A/Life Sciences/Healthcare environment is considered a plus
