Claudia Aguilar

Director, Sustainability And ESG

Claudia Aguilar is a Director, Sustainability and ESG at ACON Investments. Prior joining ACON in 2021, Ms. Aguilar worked as a Regulatory Analyst at Talos Energy and as a Health, Safety, Social & Environment (HSSE) Manager at Citla Energy, each a private equity owned company in the oil industry in Mexico. Ms. Aguilar also previously worked at ERM for more than 10 years as a Project Manager in Mexico City and as a Project Director in Lima, Peru. While at ERM, Ms. Aguilar participated in sustainability projects including environmental and social due diligence, implementation of health, safety and environmental trainings, management system development and implementation and ESG and regulatory compliance audits for financial institutions for companies across Latin America in various sectors including mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, chemical and pharmaceutical.

Ms. Aguilar holds a B.S. with Honors in Chemical Engineering from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and an MSc in Environmental Impact Assessment, Auditing and Management Systems from University of East Anglia.

Bernard Aronson

Founder, Managing Partner

Bernard Aronson is a Founder and Managing Partner of ACON Investments. Prior to co-founding ACON in 1996, Mr. Aronson was International Advisor to Goldman Sachs for Latin America. From 1989 through 1993, Mr. Aronson served as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs under Presidents Bush and Clinton. Following his tenure, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, the State Department’s highest honor. Mr. Aronson serves on the Board of Directors of Sequitur Energy Resources, an ACON fund portfolio company. Mr. Aronson has previously served on numerous boards of ACON fund/investment vehicle portfolio companies, including among others, Mariner Energy (NYSE:ME) and Northern Tier Energy (NYSE:NTI). Mr. Aronson previously served on several public company boards, including Hyatt Hotels, Royal Caribbean International and Liz Claiborne. He currently serves on the board of Lindblad Expeditions Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:LIND). In addition, Mr. Aronson is a Director for the National Democratic Institute and the Amazon Conservation Team. He is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Academy of Diplomats. In February 2015, Mr. Aronson was asked by President Obama to serve as U.S. Special Envoy for the Colombian peace process. Following his service, he was again awarded the Distinguished Service Medal. Mr. Aronson has published opinion pieces in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The New Republic and The Huffington Post, among other publications.

Mr. Aronson holds a B.A. with Honors in Humanities from The University of Chicago.

Associate

Juan Pablo Archila is an Associate at ACON Investments. Prior to commencing to consult for ACON in 2021, Mr. Archila was a Corporate Finance Associate at Amfora Packaging (an ACON portfolio company), where he provided corporate finance advisory services to the group. Previously, Mr. Archila was an Analyst in BTG Pactual’s Investment Banking division and an Analyst at Axia Investment Banking, a Colombian investment banking firm, where he provided M&A and capital raising advisory services across various sectors, including retail, financial, industrials and IT, among others.

Director

John Morgan Barr is a Director at ACON Investments. Prior to joining ACON in 2009, Mr. Barr worked at private equity firm Fox Meadow Capital Partners, where he focused on sourcing and executing investments in media, healthcare, basic industries and the U.S. Hispanic marketplace. Prior to that, Mr. Barr worked at Empyrean Capital Partners, an event-driven and special situation hedge fund. Partner

Mo Bawa is a Partner at ACON Investments. Prior to joining ACON in 2005, he was an Associate with Constellation Commodities Group where he was responsible for origination, structuring, evaluation and negotiation of the firm’s principal investments. Teresa Young Bernstein

COO, General Counsel and CCO

Teresa Y. Bernstein is the Chief Operating Officer, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of ACON Investments. Prior to joining ACON in 2013, Ms. Bernstein worked at Perseus, a Washington, DC-based middle-market private equity firm, where she was also Chief Legal Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. Ms. Bernstein joined Perseus in 2006 as Vice President for Legal Affairs. Prior to joining Perseus, Ms. Bernstein was an Associate in the Corporate and Securities group of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman’s Washington, DC office, focusing on M&A, private equity and regulatory matters relating to private and public pooled investment vehicles. Before Pillsbury, Ms. Bernstein was a Corporate Associate in the New York City office of Paul Weiss. There, Ms. Bernstein focused on private equity fund formation, private equity investments and M&A. Outside of ACON, Ms. Bernstein serves on the National Board of Out Teach, a teacher-development nonprofit focused on outdoor experiential learning.

Ms. Bernstein received a B.A., magna cum laude, in Comparative Literature from Cornell University and a J.D., magna cum laude, from American University Washington College of Law. Ms. Bernstein is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the District of Columbia.

Andre Bhatia

Managing Partner

Andre Bhatia is a Managing Partner at ACON Investments. Prior to joining ACON in 2000, Mr. Bhatia was with Newbridge Latin America, an affiliate of the Texas Pacific Group, in Brazil, where he was responsible for sourcing and executing private equity transactions throughout the region. Matthew Campanelli

Vice President, Capital Formation & IR

Matthew Campanelli is a Vice President, Capital Formation and Investor Relations at ACON Investments. Mr. Campanelli joined the firm in 2020 as a Treasury and Operations Manager. Prior to this he was the Chief Operating Officer at Limiar Capital Management, a Virginia-based investment management firm focused on global emerging markets. Prior to that, he was the head of Investment Operations at Dyson Capital Advisors, where he was responsible for implementing both the firm’s trading and reporting platforms. Previously based in New York, Mr. Campanelli primarily focused on the treasury function at multi-strategy hedge fund managers BlueMountain and BlueCrest Capital. He began his career at Mount Kellett Capital Management (now part of Fortress Investment Group).

Mr. Campanelli earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Director of Finance

CJ Cimino is the Director of Finance at ACON Investments. Prior to joining ACON in 2015, Mr. Cimino was a Vice President at The Rock Creek Group, a DC-based asset management firm, where he managed the overall tax function. Prior to joining Rock Creek, Mr. Cimino was a Tax Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers in its Asset Management practice, focusing primarily on private equity clients.

Mr. Cimino earned his B.S. in Accounting and his B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Alfonso Corcuera is a Principal at ACON Investments. Mauricio Cortés is a Partner at ACON Investments. Prior to joining ACON in 2009, Mr. Cortés worked as a Senior Associate with GP Investments, one of the largest Brazilian private equity firms, and as an Associate in Citigroup’s Latin America Investment Banking Group in their New York and Mexico City offices. Mr. Cortés worked previously at Protego Asesores as well as at Booz Allen in Mexico City. Marta de Oca is an Analyst for ACON Southern Europe Advisory. Prior to joining ACON Southern Europe Advisory, Ms. de Oca worked at Tikehau Capital in the Private Debt team in London. Prior to that, she was a Junior Analyst at BBVA Corporate and Investment Banking in London, in the Leveraged Finance team covering the EMEA region. Ms. De Oca began her career at UBS Wealth Management in Madrid.

Alex DeAraujo is an Operating Partner who works directly with certain portfolio companies of funds sponsored by ACON Investments providing advice on a range of operational issues. Mr. DeAraujo began working with ACON in 2017. Prior to commencing to consult for ACON and with ACON portfolio companies, he was a Principal at Investcorp where he was responsible for developing and implementing operational improvement, cost reduction and revenue enhancement programs for portfolio companies. Prior to Investcorp, Mr. DeAraujo was an Operating Executive at Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe with a focus on growth, cash management and cost reduction. Prior to Welsh Carson, he spent over six years at Bain & Company, where he was a Principal, with a focus on increasing value of mid-market private equity companies. Mr. DeAraujo started his career at General Electric, with roles in manufacturing management, corporate audit staff and business development.

Mr. DeAraujo received a B.S., with honors, in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

Operating Director

Santiago Delgado is an Operating Director who works directly with certain portfolio companies of funds sponsored by ACON Investments providing advice on a range of operational issues. Mr. Delgado began working with ACON in 2018. Prior to commencing to consult for ACON and with ACON portfolio companies, he was a Vice President at Thomas H. Lee Partners where he was responsible for developing and implementing operational improvement, cost reduction and revenue enhancement programs for portfolio companies. Prior to Thomas H. Lee Partners, Mr. Delgado was a Consultant at Bain & Company with a focus on increasing value of companies in the technology, industrial and retail industries. Mr. Delgado started his career at National Instruments, with roles in engineering, product management and corporate development.

Mr. Delgado received a B.S., summa cum laude, in Business Administration and Management Information Systems from the University of Nebraska, and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Jorge Dickens is a Managing Partner at ACON Investments. Prior to joining ACON in 2008, Mr. Dickens was a Vice President at Darby Overseas Investments, an international private equity firm and affiliate of Franklin Templeton Investments. In that capacity, he was responsible for investing and managing private investment funds in Latin America. Previously, he was an Investment Banking Associate with Banco Santander, where he advised clients in corporate finance and cross-border M&A assignments. Rodrigo Galvão

Rodrigo Galvão is a Partner at ACON Investments. Prior to joining ACON in 2014, Mr. Galvão spent two years with 3i Group, the international private equity fund manager, most recently as a Partner, based in São Paulo. From 1998 to 2011, he worked with Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity in São Paulo and London, where he was promoted to Managing Director. Mr. Galvão started his professional career in Merrill Lynch’s Latin America Investment Banking Group in New York. He serves on the board of Dori Alimentos, an ACON fund portfolio company and he previously served on the board of Conexão, a prior ACON fund portfolio company. Mr. Galvão has also served on the Board of Directors of Buscapé, Euromedic and Integrated Dental Holdings. In addition, Mr. Galvão has been involved with private equity investments in Debenhams, Dominet Bank, Juncadella Prosegur, Procomp and Rexel.

Jonathan Ginns

Jonathan Ginns is a Founder and Managing Partner of ACON Investments. Prior to co-founding ACON in 1996, Mr. Ginns was a Senior Investment Officer at the GEF Funds group. Previously, Mr. Ginns was a Management Consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton. Mr. Ginns often serves on the board of ACON fund/investment vehicle portfolio companies. Among his current positions, Mr. Ginns serves on the board of Sequitur Energy Resources. Marcos Semmler is a Managing Partner and co-founder of ACON Southern Europe Advisory. Prior to co-founding ACON Southern Europe Advisory, Mr. Semmler was a Partner at SWC. Prior to SWC, he spent nine years at Demeter Partners, a French clean technology fund, where he was Partner and Country Manager responsible for investments in the Iberian Peninsula. Before that, Mr. Semmler was a Managing Partner at GED Capital, a Spanish mid-size private equity firm. He joined GED Capital from the Spanish public company AESA, which belongs to the SEPI Group, where he was the Finance Director.
